Angee Montgomery Receives Mississippi Arts Commission Grant for a local Creative Retreat

JACKSON, MISS. July 14, 2022 Angee Montgomery of Hernando, MS has been awarded a $2000 grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission. This grant is a portion of the more than $1.4 million in grants MAC awarded in Fiscal Year 2022 and will be used to launch an Artist’s Creative Retreat. The grants are made possible by continued funding from the Mississippi State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.

“The state’s arts community has displayed such resiliency during tumultuous times, and we are very pleased to provide grants to these worthy artists,” said Sarah Story, executive director of MAC. “Mississippi’s artistic legacy was built through the talents of its exceptionally creative citizens. These funds help support the next generation of amazing artists and ensure that the story of artistic excellence in our state lives on.”

Angee Montgomery is a professional fine art painter & art educator living and working in Hernando, Mississippi. Montgomery holds a BFA in Fine Art from University of Memphis. She mentors artists in her local studio, online and through the DeSoto Arts Council. Angee shares the restorative and inspirational power of the creative process, and thanks to help from MAC, “Motherland Creative Retreat” will serve as a new space to bring creatives together to learn from each other and develop their work.
