Finding Clarity in Nature with Friends

“Identity can not be found or fabricated but emerges from within when one has the courage to let go.” -Doug Cooper

Sometimes its difficult to let go.

Everyone is so very helpful.

Advising, commenting, tugging at your attention.

Ideas have the capacity to take root and grow like weeds in a garden. Whether they are your own or planted by another.

And its easy to find yourself knee deep tending to the products of your decisions.

Sometimes when the day’s circumstances are pooling around me, I take a shower, take a walk, step outside, or go for a drive. I strip everything away and surround myself with the nearest natural environment.

It works.

It clears the thought clutter, calms my senses, and for a while, I can hear the clarity of my own voice.

Deep down, we yearn to understand and belong.

To a place.

To a tribe.

To a purpose.

To ourselves.

How beautiful it is to realize we are all intimately creatively related - to each other, and the earth we inhabit.

I’ve never felt so inspired, connected and confident in my creative practice as I did during Motherland Creative - it was truly a prescription for an artist’s soul.
