Celebration Paintings & Country Music
Good Morning,
I hope you have had an amazing start to this new year! I myself am feeling so blessed as I look around at how much my personal and “art” life has evolved since last year.
This month, I began teaching classes to a few groups of amazing kids that I can’t wait to see evolve. When I began private lessons as a young teen, it felt like my teacher had gifted me a superpower, and as my skills developed - so did my confidence.
To begin 2022, I decided to create a couple of celebration paintings that reflected how I felt about moving forward as well as beautiful memories from the past.
“New Year Birthdays”- 13x18” - Oil on Wood
With my daughter’s birthday jump starting the new year and mine wrapping up the end, this window of time is always supercharged with an abundance of celebration! This is a still life with some remnants from our birthdays, plus a little symbolic of how we’ve grown together.
“The First Grandchild” - “24x18” - Oil on Linen
-a gift for my mom :)
My older brother, Jared, is in his 30s now, and my grandparents are no longer here which is still hard to believe because they left such a deep impression on everyone they met, especially me. I remember so much from this kitchen, and they were always in there. While painting this I couldn’t help but turn on some 90s country music in the studio to transport me back to being a kid in this space. This was Jared’s first Halloween…little superman.
Thanks for reading, and I’d love to hear from you! Anyone else have great memories around 90s country music lol? I distinctly remember Neon Moon playing thousands of times in that kitchen! What’s your favorite?
