Delores & Friends

“Delores & Friends” 22.5x22.5” Oil on Wood

Just for a moment, we’ll all gather round this very unique collection of clowns.

A quilting together of shapes, colors, lost edges and time.

Sentimentally, this painting feels like family and friends - a bunch of misfits strung together in a certain moment. Each element reminds me of the person it came from. It’s as if they all traveled from far away lands to hang out together.

I brought a lot of other friends on this journey as well, playing with stylistic techniques from 3 other artists. The color scheme, composition, and application of paint all pieced together from painters I adore.

I wanted the piece to feel as if time itself was slipping away. And in the theme of Paul Simon’s “Slip Sliding Away”, I named her Delores :) for in the song…

“He said Delores
I live in fear
My love for you's so overpowering
I'm afraid that I will disappear

Slip slidin' away
You know the nearer your destination
The more you're slip slidin' away”
