Creating a Collection

I didn’t grow up in a family that collected art. But we always had a very interesting array of items, imagery and textiles hung around the house, and to this day I am very attached to the decor from my childhood. It even affects my personal Christmas decorations. I love handmade, classic items plus a big illuminated plastic Frosty and Santa - just because. :)

I’d like to invite you to try on a curatorial hat. Pay attention to what you pay attention to - and ask yourself - WHY?

Below is my imaginary art collection. Mine is made on a Pinterest board - but you could also make an album on your phone.

This is a great exercise for artists to begin to lean into their personal aesthetic or style, but also just for fun, to help with how you want to personalize your space and treat your senses to what makes you feel alive!

I'd love to know what pieces are in your imaginary art collection.
